가족 돌봄휴가 지원금 신청The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 21st that it would start accepting applications for the “Corona 19 Family Care Cost Emergency Support Project.”
This project targets workers who have taken family care leave (unpaid) to take care of a family member infected with COVID-19 or to take care of a disabled child under the age of 8 or under the age of 18 or under the 2nd grade of elementary school due to school closures, school closures, remote classes, etc. .
When using family care leave, 50,000 won per day is supported for up to 10 days to help alleviate the economic burden.
The family care leave system is a policy that supports work-life balance by allowing workers to use leave on a daily basis when they need to take care of their family and children for a short period of time.
If an employee applies for (unpaid) leave for the purpose of urgently caring for a family member due to illness, accident, old age, or raising a child, the employer must allow it.
In addition, if an employee applies for unpaid leave for reasons such as grandparents, parents, spouses, children, or spouse’s parents or grandchildren’s illness, accident, old age, or child rearing, the employer cannot refuse it, except for reasons prescribed by the Presidential Decree. .
However, if the granting of family care leave at the time requested by the worker causes a significant impediment to normal business operations, the period may be changed after consultation with the worker.
Meanwhile, the government operated the COVID-19 family care cost emergency support project temporarily in 2020 and 2021, but as the COVID-19 situation continued this year, such as the spread of Omicron, it was implemented in 2022 by reflecting the supplementary budget of 9.5 billion won.
In 2020 and 2021, 166,000 workers used family care leave related to Corona 19, and contributed to reducing the economic burden of workers by supporting 62 billion won in care costs.
Hwang Bo-guk, director of integrated employment policy at the Ministry of Employment and Labor, said, “This year, as the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 is increasing significantly due to the spread of Omicron, the burden of family care due to closures or remote classes is still expected to be high.” We will do our best to guide and support the system so that you can use family care leave without burden.”
You can apply for family care expenses through the website of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (www.moel.go.kr) or by mail at the relevant job center.
