The city is operating a system that authenticates Yongin citizens using a QR code in conjunction with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety system. Citizens who have been authenticated as citizens can authenticate themselves as citizens by accessing the QR code using their mobile phones without having to carry their ID or resident registration card.
When using tourist destinations in the region or tourist destinations or facilities in cities that have established sister city ties with the city, they do not have to present their ID or resident registration card every time to receive discounts given to Yongin citizens. The QR code citizen authentication event will be held from September 28 to December 31. If Yongin citizens use QR codes to authenticate themselves at 40 tourist attractions or facilities in 6 tourist destinations in the city, including Yongin Natural Recreation Forest, Rural Theme Park, Hantaek Botanical Garden, Korean Folk Village, Daejanggeum Theme Park, and Insect Theme Park, as well as 8 cities that have sister city ties with the city, including Sokcho-si, Jindo-gun, Yeongcheon-si, Wando-gun, Sacheon-si, Goseong-gun, Gwangyang-si, and Danyang-gun, they will receive 1,000 won in city points.
To participate in the event, you must sign up for the Yongin City Point app, get certified as a citizen once, and receive a citizen ID. You can choose the certificate you want to show, such as youth, families with many children, people with disabilities, or families with distinguished military service.
A city official said, “If you are planning a trip in the fall, it would be a good idea to visit famous local tourist destinations or cities that have sister city ties with the city, which offer discounts and events,” and added, “We will utilize QR code citizen authentication for various citizen services.”
