How to get a refund from the national pension

Aged parents will be fooled by the fact that the reliable National Pension Service will give refunds. Fraud in old age without income is much more fatal. In response, the National Pension Service posted an article related to phishing fraud, so I share it. ​

Usually, messages like this come. If you are asked for personal information, such as your resident registration number or account number, never give it out and you must make an inquiry to the National Pension Service by phone.

As with other phishing scams, never click on links in text messages. In particular, text messages from international origins are almost 100% fraudulent. And let’s remember that if a link is included in a text message related to the national pension, there is no international outgoing.

When sending a text message with a URL, it is sent to the national pension call center number ‘1355’, or when sending a text message from a branch of the National Pension Service, it is sent to a number containing an area code. ​

KakaoTalk message phishing case
These days, KakaoTalk is used more than text messages, so scammers also use KakaoTalk. If you receive a KakaoTalk message related to the National Pension Service, you must check your KakaoTalk profile. Please note that it is different from the official account of the National Pension Service, even if the corporation mascot ‘Pension Lee’ is used as a profile picture or the corporation logo is used. Just as you have to be careful of fakes when buying things, they are imitations.

How to check KakaoTalk National Pension Official Account
You can check it through the KakaoTalk profile link. ​

Check the official certification logo. You can check the official certification mark to the right of the ‘National Pension’ account name.
Check the number of KakaoTalk friends. The number of KakaoTalk account friends of the National Pension Service is over 500,000.
Check the contents of the National Pension Channel. The National Pension Service KakaoTalk channel has content unique to the National Pension Service.
In some cases, Kakao Notification Talk is sent to the National Pension Service e-document other than the official account of the National Pension Service. As with official accounts, national pension e-documents must also be verified with official authentication marks and the number of friends. ​

If in doubt, contact the call center (1355)
The notification text message of the National Pension Service never asks for remittance or personal information such as password, card number, or internet banking. If you suspect voice phishing, you should immediately inquire at the National Pension Service call center 1355 or your local branch. ​
