📌What is a massage voucher?
Health and welfare departments and local governments are implementing a massage voucher system to improve the health of the elderly and guarantee jobs for the visually impaired.
As it is operated with government subsidies, you can use massage services provided by nationally certified professional masseuses at the low price of 4,000 won per hour.
Applications begin in January every year and close when the budget is exhausted, so please contact the local community center where you currently live and apply.
📌Eligibility for massage voucher use
✅Income standard: 140% or less of standard median income or basic pension recipient
✅ Age criteria: Seniors over 60 years of age as of the date of application and suffering from a medical condition
✅People with disease classification code
*Disease classification codes are as follows.
G: Nervous system (cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, dementia)
·M: Musculoskeletal pain (muscle pain, neuralgia, disc, degenerative arthritis)
·I: Circulatory system (hypertension, hyperlipidemia, blood circulation disorder)
·R81: Diabetes
·E10~E15: Diabetic, non-diabetic hypoglycemic coma
Since most seniors suffer from geriatric diseases, they will be eligible to apply for a massage voucher.
📌However, those with musculoskeletal, nervous, or circulatory system diseases among those with registered physical disabilities or brain lesions, and those who have been classified as disabled under the Act on the Honorable Treatment of Persons of National Merit, can apply regardless of age.
📌Support benefits and costs
✅Available period
12 months, 4 times a month (maximum 40 times), 60 minutes once a week (*The number of times per session varies depending on the massage center)
✅Usage cost
90% government support of total cost, 10% out-of-pocket (4,000 won per time)
📌Application period and method
✅Application period
We usually recruit in January.
The detailed application period varies by region, so please inquire about implementation and application period through the local government community center or city/county/district office social welfare department to check.
(It is not implemented in all cities, so be sure to check!)
*If there are not enough people, there are many cases where a second round of recruitment is conducted, so please check regularly.
*As of the previous year, there were many cases where applications were made between early January and mid-January. (It appears that the event will be held before the Lunar New Year.)
✅How to apply
1) Before visiting the relevant community center, please check the application period, eligibility requirements, and required documents by phone.
2) Please prepare the necessary documents.
✔️Choose 1 from doctor’s certificate / doctor’s opinion / prescription (disease classification codes G, M, I, R81, E10~E15 are required)
✔️Choose 1 of health insurance premium payment confirmation / health insurance premium payment receipt / health insurance premium payment invoice
✔️Choose 1 of ID card or health insurance card
✔️Welfare card (only applicable)
3) Please bring the above documents and visit the community center where you currently reside.
4) After screening, you can receive the issued massage voucher card and use the service at the massage center.
