It’s been a while since I checked my passport, and I see that one year has passed since its expiration date. With Corona and the baby coming out little by little, I thought I should get my passport issued in advance, so I recently had my passport photo taken at a photo studio near my house.

I applied for a passport reissue online through the “Electronics 24” app. I could have gone to the district office offline, but I chose online because it was more convenient for my personal schedule. Since it is an online application, you will naturally need to have a passport photo file.
Korean citizens over the age of 18 who have previously been issued an electronic passport (regular passport) at least once can apply for online passport reissue. Please note that minors under the age of 18, first-time e-passport applicants, diplomatic and official passport applicants, emergency passport applicants, and military service obligees are excluded.

Now let’s take a look at the prices of passport photos at photo studios,
I stopped by an unmanned photo studio at a subway station close to my house to see what the prices were for passport photos. Perhaps because it was my first time looking into an unmanned photo studio up close, it felt quite unfamiliar. The price on the front of the machine was written at 15,000 won. I looked around to see if picture files were provided, but there was no related article, so I gave up on taking photos here.
The next day, I stopped by a photo shop close to my house to discuss prices for passport photos and whether jpg files were provided.
I also ordered from the photo studio owner, “The picture file you receive here must be successfully passed when applying for an online passport reissue using the Government 24 app.”

The price of passport photos is 20,000 won for 6 prints. They said this is basic. So, they are saying that it is not possible to print only two photos and then ask them to lower the price.
And providing a jpg image file cost an additional 4,000 won.
In the end, the total cost of having my passport photo taken at the photo studio was 24,000 won.
I thought he was a different person when I saw his passport photo because he was so good at photoshopping it, removing wrinkles and blemishes. I have this passport photo saved on my smartphone, and I am still amazed every time I open my smartphone gallery.
I applied for a passport reissue online through the “Government 24” app using the passport photo file (jpg) I received from the photo studio. I cleared the application in one go without being rejected by the passport reissue system.
