When making payments on overseas sites, have you often seen PayPal as a payment option other than a credit (check) card? In the early days of overseas direct purchase, PayPal was mainly used when using places that did not accept payments with a Korean credit card, and the amount accumulated on overseas cashback sites was used to be refunded to a Korean bankbook.

Today, I would like to summarize the simpler and more convenient way to sign up for PayPal and how to link a bank account after 10 years. 이베이스매뉴얼

PayPal Shortcut

1. When the PayPal screen opens, click Sign Up or Join Now in the upper right corner as shown below.

2. If you do not need to sign up as a business member who sends and receives payments through PayPal, select Purchase with Paypal as shown below to sign up as a general member, and then click Next.

3. Enter your mobile phone number and click Next.

4. Enter the 6-digit code sent to your mobile phone.

5. Enter the email address you want to use for your PayPal account, first name, last name, and password, and then click Next.

6. Types of ID for identification include driver’s license and passport. Simply select one of them, enter your date of birth, address, and click Agree and Create Account to create an account on PayPal.

7. PayPal registers a credit card, debit card, or bank account, so you can easily pay by logging in to PayPal without entering payment information separately when making payments on overseas sites. Therefore, it is necessary to register the card information in PayPal in advance.

8. Enter your credit or debit card number, expiration date, and security code, then click Link Card.

9. Unlike before, PayPal is in Korean, so it is easy to see and the account confirmation process is much simpler.

10. Go to your PayPal account and look at the top right corner of the screen to see a notification. A process is required to verify that the email address is real. Please click Send Email.

11. Go to E-mail and click Confirm My E-mail Address in the e-mail you received via PayPal to confirm your account.

12. PayPal allows you to register additional banks or credit cards. Let’s register a bank account this time to receive the PayPal balance transferred to a Korean bank account. Please click on your card or bank link as shown below.

13. Click Link Bank Account.

14. When you enter the bank name, the bank code (bank identification code required to receive a transfer from overseas to a domestic account) is automatically entered. Select the account type, enter the account number and social security number, agree and click Connect.

15. You will be taken to the next step to verify your bank account. You need to enter the amount deposited into your bank account from PayPal, but it cannot be confirmed right now and it will take some time.

16. It takes about 3-5 days to confirm the amount deposited into your bank account. After a few days, check your bank account for 2 micro-deposits and log into PayPal again.

17. Once your bank account has been deposited, it’s time to go back to PayPal and complete the final verification process. Click OK next to your bank account as shown below.

18. After confirming the two small deposits in your bank account, click Confirm Bank to enter them into PayPal.

19. After entering the deposit amount, click OK to complete the account confirmation process.

20. If you see the screen below, the account confirmation is now complete and you can receive transfers to the account.

Now that you have created a PayPal account, in the next post, I will post how to transfer overseas cashback points to your PayPal account, and then from PayPal to your Korean bank account.
