Today, I would like to take the time to learn about the conditions for establishing a senior day care center.
1. What is a senior day care center?
It is also called Nochiwon because it is a kindergarten for the elderly.
Protects seniors in long-term care during the day and provides care to seniors who have difficulty moving.
It is a place that provides specialized services such as functional enhancement, emotional support, health promotion, and social rehabilitation.
2. Those eligible to establish a senior day care center

Those eligible to establish a senior day care center are as follows.
1) Social worker license holder (Level 1/Level 2)
2) Medical personnel (doctor or nurse) under Article 2 of the Medical Service Act
3) More than 1 year of experience as a physical therapist or occupational therapist
4) More than 5 years of experience after obtaining Level 1 nursing care assistant + prescribed training (Minister of Health and Welfare)
5) More than 5 years of experience after obtaining nursing assistant qualification + prescribed training (Minister of Health and Welfare)
3. Required personnel to establish a senior day care center

In relation to Article 29, Paragraph 1 of the Elderly Welfare Act, home care, home bathing, day and night care, short-term care,
Facilities that provide home-based elderly support and visiting nursing services require a certain number of people, as shown in the photo above.
It is mandatory, and the facility manager must be full-time (8 hours per day, 20 or more days per month).
(For reference, if day and night care services and short-term care services are provided,
Social workers, nurses, nursing assistants, physical therapists, occupational therapists, or care workers (level 1) cannot concurrently hold other positions.)
4. Social worker certification
As mentioned above, there are various conditions for establishing a senior day care center.
It takes a long time and there are many things to prepare, so many people acquire a social worker license.
You are hoping to establish a day care center for the elderly. Social worker certification is divided into level 1 and level 2.
Additionally, the organizations that can be established vary depending on whether one obtains level 1 or level 2 social worker certification.
[Level 1 certification] – Able to establish a corporate nursing home with less than 300 people
Level 2 social worker certification + 4-year bachelor’s degree
Level 2 social worker certification + 1 year of practical experience
[Level 2 certification] – Can establish a private nursing home with less than 30 people
College graduate or higher + Completion of 17 related courses
(If your highest level of education is a high school graduate, you must complete a total of 27 subjects in parallel with your degree course)
* To set up a day care center, you only need to have a Level 2 social worker license to set up a day care center.
5. How to obtain certification
Methods of obtaining social worker certification are categorized as general university/cyber university/community university/credit bank system.
All certificates are issued through the Korean Association of Social Workers.
General universities, cyber universities, and telecommunications universities must wait for admission.
Also, it takes a long time because you cannot only take the courses you want.
The Credit Bank System holds opening classes almost every month.
Many people are taking this course because they can only take the courses they want.
To obtain a level 2 social worker certification, you must complete 16 online lectures and 1 practical course.
If you have completed at least one subject related to social worker level 2 certification before December 31, 2019

Before revision – Complete 13 online lectures and 120 hours of practical training.
After revision – Complete 16 online lectures and 160 hours of practical training
For practical training, apply for classes at an educational institution that offers the [Social Welfare Field Training] course.
You must also apply for training at a training institution selected by the Minister of Health and Welfare.
Although there are slight differences between institutions, training is possible on weekdays and weekends, and can be negotiated for at least 4 to 8 hours.
