I usually don’t have to send a courier, so I didn’t know almost anything about post office operating hours, box prices, courier prices, etc. So, for those who are curious like me, I would like to tell you how to send a post office parcel.

Postal business hours and financial business hours are different, so please do not get confused.
Many of you may be wondering if you can go to the post office on Saturday and send a package.

Since we only deliver on Saturdays, it is only possible to receive deliveries received on weekdays on Saturdays.
I went to the post office to send a parcel, and the boxes were ready right in front of me. I thought it would be expensive to buy a box at the post office, so I brought it from home in advance. The box was cheaper than I thought.
You don’t always have a box at home. On the day of separate collection, there is no box at home. In that case, I think you can buy it at the post office without worrying.

I wrote down the price and size of the box (width, length, height). There was no Box 6 at the post office I visited. It seems that the size of the box that each post office has is also different, so if you want to purchase a box, it would be good to call the post office in advance before visiting.
After purchasing the box, you can wrap the box here. Wow! I’ve done all the box packing at home, so I only filled out the label.
If you need an envelope while sending mail, you can also purchase it. Envelopes can be purchased for 30 won, 50 won, and 100 won for each size.
Packing newspaper, tape, glue, markers, pens, staplers, and other items needed for courier or postal delivery are all prepared. As long as you bring the goods to be sent by courier, you can solve everything at the post office.
The label paper is divided into two types: sending overseas parcels and sending domestic parcels. I took out a domestic parcel label and filled it out.
The writing method is very simple. Just write down the sender’s name, phone number, address, contents, recipient’s name, phone number, and address and give it to the staff!
There is also a box where you can fill out parcel delivery, relief (insurance), holiday delivery, and cash on delivery. If you are interested in this part, please check it out and write it down.

3. Glass products (glass bottles, pottery, picture frames, objects containing glass, etc.)
4. Fruits (apples, peaches, pears, etc.)
5. Food (kimchi, dry side dishes, soups, etc.)
Kimchi, etc., is wrapped in 2-3 layers of plastic for making kimchi so that the soup does not leak, and then packed in a sturdy box.
I often received peaches or kimchi by courier from my parents or in-laws. It turns out that all of them are non-refundable items. I think you should pack it very meticulously so that you don’t miss anything.

Charges are based on box size and weight.
I had to go to the post office, so I applied at the window. Because it is the smallest box and light weight, the basic price of 3,500 won came out. Even if it’s the same light weight, if you put the box in a bigger box, the charge will be higher. So please put it in the smallest possible box.
For example, if you put an item weighing less than 1kg in a 60cm box, you will get 4,000 won according to the size of the box. So I chose the smallest box among the boxes at home and put it in.
And on the contrary, if it is a small box less than 50cm and the weight of the contents is 2kg, 4,000 won will come out according to the weight. The fact that the rate comes out according to the size of the box or the weight of the box! It is difficult to reduce the weight, but it is better to prepare the box as small as possible.
There are two ways to receive post office courier services: window and door-to-door.
Counter reception means that you visit the post office and apply at the window, and in-person reception means that if you make a reservation through the Internet, a courier driver from the post office will personally visit the post office and receive it.
And the fact that window registration is cheaper than door-to-door registration! There is a difference from as little as 1500 won to as much as 3000 won. There must be reasons such as labor costs. If the post office is nearby, it would be better to use window reception.
You can choose between Registered Parcel and General Parcel at check-in. If you send it by regular parcel, it is cheaper, but it is not treated as a record, so you cannot check the location of the courier and whether or not it has arrived. And it usually takes about a day for registered parcels, but if you send it as a regular parcel, it will arrive within 4 days.
I was going to send a light product in the smallest box, so I tried to choose a regular parcel, but I was concerned that it might be lost, so I accepted it as a registered parcel. I paid 1200 won more and chose the safer and more comfortable option. lol
*Additional usage fee*
An additional fee will be charged for same-day express, cash on delivery, safe parcel, and COD exchange. I didn’t know that there was a 500 won fee for cash on delivery. I thought prepaid and postpaid are the same rate, but postpaid is more expensive. I would prefer to send it in advance if possible.
*Parcel charge reduction*
Discounts are available when sending multiple parcels. If you pay the fee immediately while registering at the window, you will receive a 5%, 10%, or 15% discount for 3 or more. You can receive a 10% or 15% discount on purchases of 10 or more if you pay your bills immediately while visiting.
* Precautions when using post office courier service *
1. The maximum weight is 30kg or less, and the size (sum of width, length, and height) is maximum 160cm or less. However, the maximum length of one side is limited to 100cm.
2. In the case of same-day express mail, the weight is less than 20kg and the size is less than 120cm.
3. Unlike registered parcels, regular parcels are not treated as records, so compensation for damages is not provided in case of loss.
4. The next level of charge will be applied based on the weight/size whichever is greater.
5. The delivery time in certain areas such as island areas may differ from the above.
6. The Jeju area (next day delivery) has different deadlines depending on the aircraft transport conditions.
7. Regional classification of same-day express service (Seoul/Incheon/Gyeonggi, Busan/Ulsan/Gyeongnam, Daejeon/Sejong/Chungnam, Chungbuk, Gwangju/Jeonnam, Daegu/Gyeongbuk, Jeonbuk, Gangwon, Jeju)

I have memories of sending letters with postage stamps when I was young, but now I don’t have to write letters or send mail.
This is the courier I sent~ I prepared a courier box at home. At the post office, I filled out only one label with the address of the domestic parcel and gave it to the staff. As soon as the staff received it, I put it on the scale and it came out as 67g. The smallest box weighs only 67g, so the basic fee is 3,500 won!
The staff asks if you want to receive the receipt in paper form or via KakaoTalk. Paper is cumbersome, so I asked for it via KakaoTalk.
As soon as you finish paying the courier fee, we send you a receipt via KakaoTalk. And the very next day, I even came to KakaoTalk that the courier delivery was completed. It was very convenient because I didn’t have to look up the waybill separately, and they sent it to me via KakaoTalk.
